The Mako Aquatics Club is a year-round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching, and technique instruction for all ages and abilities serving The Bahamas. Our coaches are highly trained and encourage every swimmer to achieve continued improvement from Learn-to-swim to the highest levels of competition. Mako Aquatics Club coaches are committed to developing prepared and focused athletes that excel both in and out of the pool.

Our mission is to teach, train and encourage our members to work hard, be disciplined, and have continued success.

Travano McPhee was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas. Travano is both an accomplished swimmer and coach.

Travano competed in seven CARIFTA meets as a swimmer for The Bahamas and has held multiple national records. Travano swam for the University of Western Kentucky (2002-2006), where he held the school record for the 100 breast.

Travano has been the head coach for The Bahamas National Team on six occasions.

Dwayne Davis Jr., aka Coach Dwayne or Coach DJ, is a recent graduate of Acadia University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Technology Management. He was a competitive swimmer for 7 years and a 7-time national swimmer with multiple medals.

Coach Dwayne has been coaching for 5 years in all categories: Learn to Swim, Improve your Stroke and Competitive Swimming. He has a passion for swimming and is very excited to join the Mako Aquatics Club Family.

Charles Sealy III is a certified aquatic instructor and proud Strength & Conditioning Coach of Mako Aquatics alongside Head Coach Travano McPhee.

Charles is a 5-time international track and field representative, 3-time national swimmer and has a lot of experience in other sports and disciplines.

Charles has years of experience in personal training and group fitness and has always been passionate about health and fitness.

Sara Knowles was raised in Hope Town, Elbow Cay, Abaco where she was a swimmer at an early age and started teaching learn to swim at 19. After taking a few years off to raise her family she returned to coaching in 2008. She’s a ASCA level 3 coach, Swim America site supervisor for learn to swim and dryland training certified.

She trains the Mako Aquatics swimmers that live in Abaco at their 2 locations. Long Bay School pool in Marsh Harbour and Hope Town Pool on Elbow Cay.

Sara has been head coach for Team Bahamas at multiple International meets such as Youth Olympics, FINA World Junior Championships, Junior PanPac, Commonwealth Games and assistant coach 7 times with Team Bahamas at Caribbean & Central America meets.

Mako Aquatics Club is a coach-managed organization.

Our home pool (5-Lane / 25M) is at the Evolve functional fitness facility (corner of Montrose Avenue and Rosetta Street). Our club also trains at the Betty Kelly Kenning Aquatic Centre.
